Gulfport Temporary Library Staff

Hey boys and girls!

If some of you are wondering who is who here at the Gulfport Temporary Library. here's (a cartoon version of) the library staff:




Following from the top and left to right:

Mr. Frank, the branch manager (head boss) of the library.*

Miss Angela, head of circulation.#

Miss Theo, shelver and library aide.

Mr. Geoff, children's librarian (otherwise known as the Mad Professor).



*Many thanks go out to Mr. Frank, who did most of the artwork.

+circulation: the activities that pertain to the lending of library books and other materials to users of a lending institution, such as a library.

New Coloring Page

Here's the coloring page for March:

(to print, right click the image and save to your desktop. Then open up the image in MS Paint and under that program's menu click 'page set up'. Fit the page 1 to 1 (to make it full size) and then click 'print'.)

Or you can just pick up a copy at the Gulfport Temporary Library.




Rules:
- Contest open to children ages 12 and under.

- One (1) entry per person per month, please.

- To enter, print out the Picture of the Month, color it in however you like, and return your entry to the Gulfport Temporary Library for judging.

- Entries can be scanned, attached to e-mail and sent to g.conwill@harrison.lib.ms.us or you can send your entry (via U.S. Mail) to:

- Be sure to include child's name, age, address, phone number, and e-mail address so that winners may be notified!

Judging:
- Entries will be judged once a month, and prizes will be awarded monthly.

- Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity.

- Once a month, prizes will be awarded in 2 age categories: ages 5 and under, and ages 6-12.

Winners:
- Winners will be notified by phone.

- Each winner will win the following prizes for winning contest entries: a Mad Professor F.U.N. Pack, their name printed on an iron-on T-shirt transfer form, and their winning entries posted
here on the Gulfport Temporary Library’s Mad Professor’s website ( see below)!

Oh, the places you'll go...!

March 2 was the birthday of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), whom the Mad Professor holds in very high regard, since the first book he ever read (actually his mama read it to him) was "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

Accordingly, we have been celebrating Dr Seuss all this month by various story time activities.

We will continue to do so this coming Monday, 16 March 2009.

This Saturday we will have us a parade, make masks (and of course read some F.U.N. stories!

Happy Valentine Mardi Gras!

This Saturday the Mad Professor & co will celebrate Valentine's Day with fun, games (and candy!).

This coming Monday the wee ones will learn about parades with stories, feltboard and some Mardi gras crafts. Afterwards.... a parade!
